Name: Death by Design
Location (e.g. URL): Second Life, Zarflabbo (192,211,71)
Description: From the description on the museum wiki: "
Death by Design examines the ways in which human societies have attempted to exert an influence over their own mortality and that of others. It looks at the ways in which people have both caused death and tried to prevent it from ancient times to the present day. Each of the four display cases has its own storyline, which is supported by the objects chosen for display and which in turn, fits within the overall storyline of the exhibition. The exhibition considers the following themes: - War and Conflict
- Crime and Punishment
- Sacred and Spiritual
- Medicine and Science
The exhibition is not a catalogue of the ways in which humans have killed each other. Rather it tells the story of how humans throughout history have often refused to accept that death is beyond their control."

http://vorticism.wordpress.com/2007/07/21/visiting-the-death-by-design-museum/Review: A two-floor building, the internal topography and design (see screenshot below) is very much that of the real-world museum: glass cases and explanatory cards. Conservative in design, therefore, yet effective. Given the unconventional theme of the museum, one might even suspect that the replication of the staid style of the real-world museum is intentionally a wry, subtly humorous, comment on museums in general. All in all, both fascinating and well executed.
