Surge8.com does not worth a dime. Their extension whitelist has alotta TOO useful extensions blacklisted. And it's off too many times and for too many hours each time. And its forum has become a paradise for scammers. And... Alotta more many not so good thigs eg to improve surge8 might become a minimally reliable, responsible host. Support is an unknown word for their staff. Right now its reliability is about E- and its responsibility is only G-, surge8.com managed to obtain a new scale mark in this issue. Conclusion? Its owner got tired of his new toy (he has about 200 similar ones - read domains) and got tired of trying to be nice for users to sell surge8.com with a huge profit. Yes, surge8.com is for sale. In sum, surge8.com sucks.

Personally I found this module one of the most interesting modules on the course to date the link between culture, heritage and informatics is one which is a growing trend, where the module has shown me how vital it is to keep our culture and heritage alive in the information age and how to go about it, among other aspects. I was inspired by this module and now have a small youth club running one which I am very proud of and wouldn't have been able to start without the help of this module.
The structure of the module was clear and well laid out with clear goals on what to do and how to do it. Support was always welcome by the lecturer and feedback was given on time and as promised. It was a lecture I enjoyed attending where the work load was similar to other modules. I would therefore definitely recommend it to students going into their final year.
Thanks for all the help Chris.

Hi Sir,
Don't know if you've seen my email sent yesterday regarding my report late submission. I like to know if you could please permit me to submit a new report as I rushed through it and I’m not satisfied with it. The reason for late submission is due to some person issues.
I look forward to hearing from you soonest, thanks.

The poster is certainly colourful, Carolina, and many of the images tell a story to those who already know something about Colombia. But it looks more like a tourist board advertisement than an academic poster. So may I suggest you add just a little bit of explanatory text indicating what, as an e-culture initiative, your project is about?

I know I've discussed this with you before, so I'll voice the same concerns I raised last time: I am unpersuaded that, simply on the basis of a backpacking holiday, you have the knowledge and understanding that will allow you to do a successful job of this. I'm going to recommend some readings to you; you are likely to find them both relevant and useful for this project--and if, after reading them, you're determined to press ahead on this topic, I recommend you do so with reference to the issues raises in these readings. This first two are books:
Michael F. Brown, Who Owns Native Culture?, Harvard University Press (cheap, and should be easy to find) Isaac Mazonde and Pradip Thomas (Eds.), Indigenous Knowledge System and Intellectual Property Rights in the Twenty-First Century, Codesria (focus on Africa, but generically relevant)
The remainder are web sites:
http://www.archimuse.com/mw2003/papers/hunter/hunter.html http://www2002.org/CDROM/alternate/748/index.html http://www.dlib.org/dlib/march02/03contents.html http://www.cultureandrecreation.gov.au/conference2/hunter/hunter.pdf
What I'd then propose is that the focus of your project be on native rights and digitisation. We can discuss this.

Thanks for your feedback Chris, i've had a browse through these web sites and find them very interesting. You would like me to focus my project on native rights and digitisation, but i'm unsure of what content would go into the site, and whether I should limit this to aboriginal native rights.
Should I be discussing what rights the indigenous communities have within Australia and how digitisation can help give people a better understanding and respect for the indigenous society, and possibly lead to them having more rights?
Also i'm unsure of what software will be siutable for this project? I've already set up a host for myself, but don't know what to use to create the site. I've little programming experience when it comes to webdevelopment, so would Ning or wetpaint be suitable?

Generally good poster, Adam. Bear in mind my in-class comments about expanding the bullet points to communicate more clearly.

This is a good draft, Samuel, but still gives the sense of an unfinished project. For the final poster you'll need to replace things like "Users will be able" with "Users ARE able"

When you've replcaed the prospective "I will" with a retrospective "I have" and got rid of the "so far", this should be fine, Natasha

Generally good poster, Erdem, though maybe the bullet points in your Theoretical and Intellectual Issues are a little too terse to communicate clearly?
